What If Being Strong Has Come at a Cost?
You didn't become the strong one by accident.
Somewhere along the way, being the one who handled everything felt safer than needing someone else. So you learned to push through, figure it out, and keep going, even when you were exhausted.
But lately, you're wondering...
When do I get to be supported?
You're tired of being the one who understands. The one who gives another chance. The one who carries the relationship while quietly wondering why your own needs keep coming last.
You don't want to work harder at relationships.
You want to stop feeling like love depends on how much you give, how much you tolerate, or how much of yourself you're willing to sacrifice.
Maybe strength was never the problem.
Maybe no one ever showed you another way.
What If Strength No Longer Came at the Expense of Your Peace?
Imagine what becomes possible when you no longer feel responsible for holding everything together, earning love, or carrying more than your share.
Here's what life can look like instead.
➲ Be Loved for Who You Are
Experience relationships where you don't have to prove your worth through what you do, how much you give, or how much you sacrifice.
➲ Trust Yourself Again
Stop second-guessing your needs, feelings, and decisions. Learn to trust yourself without constantly wondering if you're asking for too much.
➲ Experience Relationships That Feel Mutual
Stop carrying the emotional weight of every relationship. Build connections where love, care, effort, and responsibility are shared.
➲ Receive Without Guilt
Allow yourself to receive love, support, kindness, and help without feeling like you immediately have to give something back.
➲ Set Boundaries with Confidence
Protect your peace without carrying guilt for someone else's disappointment or reaction.
➲ Know That You Are Enough
Stop measuring your value by how much you accomplish, fix, achieve, or sacrifice for everyone else.
➲ Feel Safe Being Fully Yourself
Express your thoughts, feelings, and needs without fearing rejection or feeling like you have to shrink yourself to keep the relationship.
➲ Make Room for Peace
Experience more rest, joy, and emotional freedom because your life no longer depends on carrying everything alone.
➲ Build a Life That Doesn't Cost You Yourself
Create relationships where you can love deeply without abandoning yourself in the process.
Change Doesn't Happen Overnight
Let's be honest.
The way you've learned to love, protect yourself, and show up in relationships didn't happen overnight. It developed over years of doing what you needed to do to survive.
That means change takes time, too.
There will be moments when choosing yourself feels uncomfortable. When saying "no" feels unfamiliar. When asking for support feels harder than doing it all yourself.
That doesn't mean you're doing it wrong.
It means you're learning a new way of relating to yourself and the people you love.
And on the other side of that work is something many women have never experienced before: relationships where you no longer have to lose yourself to keep them.
You Learned to Be Strong. No One Taught You How to Receive.
For years, these ways of surviving probably felt normal. They helped you get through difficult relationships, meet expectations, and keep moving forward.
But what once protected you may now be keeping you from the very relationships you want most.
You might recognize yourself here...
➲ You Put Yourself Last: You're so used to taking care of everyone else that your own needs rarely make the list.
➲ You Feel Responsible for Everyone's Feelings: You work hard to keep the peace, avoid disappointing people, and make sure everyone else is okay.
➲ You Give More Than You Receive: You're often the one checking in, making the effort, forgiving first, or trying to hold the relationship together.
➲ You Struggle to Ask for Help: Even when you're overwhelmed, asking for support feels uncomfortable or unnecessary.
➲ You Stay Longer Than You Should: You keep hoping people will become who you know they could be, even when they continue to disappoint you.
➲ You Hide Parts of Yourself: You worry that if people saw your fears, needs, or imperfections, they might pull away.
➲ You Measure Your Worth by What You Do: Slowing down feels uncomfortable because productivity has become tied to feeling valuable.
➲ You Feel Guilty for Choosing Yourself: Setting boundaries, saying no, or asking for what you need often leaves you questioning whether you're being selfish.
The life you've been longing for doesn't begin by trying harder. It begins by learning that you don't have to lose yourself to be loved.
Join The Cost of StrengthYou Think Love Is A Problem To Solve...
When something isn't working in a relationship, your first instinct is to try harder.
You explain yourself one more time. You give another chance. You become more patient, more understanding, more forgiving. You wonder what you could do differently to finally make things work.
Maybe you've read the books, listened to the podcasts, watched the videos, or prayed that things would change.
Yet somehow, you keep ending up in relationships where you're giving more than you're receiving.
The problem isn't that you haven't tried hard enough.
The problem is that you've spent so much time learning how to make relationships work that no one ever taught you how to recognize relationships that are healthy, mutual, and emotionally safe.
That's what we're here to change.
You Don't Need to Try Harder. You Need a Different Way Forward.
For a long time, you've been trying to create healthier relationships by doing more, giving more, and asking less of the people around you.
What if the answer isn't trying harder?
What if it's learning a completely different way to relate to yourself and the people you love?
Inside The Cost of Strength, you'll learn how to...
➲ Stop Confusing Love with Overgiving: Learn how to care deeply without losing yourself in the process.

➲ Receive Love and Support: Allow yourself to be cared for without feeling like you have to earn it first.
➲ Choose Yourself Without Apologizing: Make decisions that honor your peace instead of constantly protecting everyone else's comfort.
➲ Build Relationships That Feel Different: Experience relationships that are mutual, emotionally safe, and no longer leave you feeling exhausted or alone.

Meet Your Therapist
Hi, I'm Cerita.
I'm a licensed therapist and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional who specializes in helping high-achieving Black women build healthier relationships with themselves and others.
For a long time, I believed being strong meant handling everything on my own.
I was dependable.
Responsible.
The one people could count on.
I looked like I had it together.
What people couldn't see was how exhausting it was to always be the strong one.
Over time, I began to realize something that completely changed the way I understood myself.
The very strengths that helped me survive were also making it difficult to receive support, trust others, set healthy boundaries, and experience the kind of relationships I truly wanted.
Then I started seeing the same pattern in the women sitting across from me.
Successful.
Capable.
Strong.
But quietly carrying far more than they should have to.
That's why I created The Cost of Strength.
Because I don't believe your strength is the problem.
I believe understanding what your strength has been protecting is where healing begins.
If this page felt like it was describing your life, I hope you'll join us.
I'd love to meet you.
With care,
Cerita Yvonne, LMSW
